US Lacrosse Implementing Age Based Rules For 2012

US Lacrosse Board of Directors have approved age appropriate national playing rules for both boys and girls lacrosse at the national level. In their announcement, US Lacrosse Board of Director’s chairman Lee Stevens said the new rules were to ensure “… a positive youth lacrosse experience remains at the core of US Lacrosse’s operations.” Stevens went on to say, “…passage of the youth rules represents an important first step in moving the youth game from good to great.”

How these recent changes will impact youth play here in Colorado remains unclear. Both the Colorado Youth Lacrosse Association (CYLA) and the Colorado Girls Lacrosse Association (CGLA) have indicated they are currently reviewing the new age based rules recommendations.

Implementation of the new rules recommendation from US Lacrosse at the local youth organizations, as well as tournaments, may take time. This is so each organization can guarantee that lacrosse in Colorado not only remains competitive on  a national scale, but that Colorado remains one of the beacons for lacrosse for years to come.
