Vail Shootout: U-17 Final Results

Following a week of great high school lacrosse at the MVP Tournament (Rutgers University), I headed home to Colorado for the U-17 Vail Shootout.

Though not a traditional stop on the recruiting circuit, the Shootout features outstanding high school club teams from both coasts and just about everywhere in between. There was certainly some great talent on display in Friday’s championship and 3rd place games as teams from Colorado, California, Maryland and DC battled it out for the crown of tournament king.

ULA/U.S. Lacrosse Help Denver Kids Play In Ski Town Shootout

SANDY, UTAH – June 5, 2008 – In an effort to reach out and make a difference in young lives the Utah Lacrosse Association (ULA), in conjunction with a Northern Colorado US Lacrosse chapter, are making it possible for a group of inner-city kids from Denver to participate in the ULA’s annual Ski Town Lacrosse Shoot Out.

By each covering half of the Native Lacrosse team’s registration cost, the ULA and the Colorado Lacrosse Foundation have made it possible for the non-profit youth organization to participate in this annual event. Native Lacrosse will be one of more than 45 youth teams from across the western US at the Park City event helping create a diverse and learning atmosphere.

Native Lacrosse Inc., created in 1996, has the mission of instilling pride and empowerment in the hearts and minds of Denver Metro’s American Indian children through the game of lacrosse. “Because of the generosity of these two US Lacrosse chapters, these kids have a once in a lifetime experience in store for them,” says program coordinator, Alex Vigil, of Native Lacrosse Inc.

“Ski Town is about learning, sharing, and honoring the roots of the game. The tournament brings youth from different states and different walks of life together to compete and make friends. We are pleased to help Native Lacrosse in their mission to expand horizons and to help grow the sport of lacrosse” says tournament director Michael O’Malley.

The boys and girls tournament is scheduled to run from Thursday, June 12th through Saturday, June 14th in Park City. Games will be played at the Park City Recreation Complex at Quinn’s Junction and Basin Recreation’s Ecker Hill field complex. Utah teams will match up with teams from Colorado, California, Texas, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, and Oregon.
