Classroom: Ain’t No Thing - Zac Jungers’ ‘chicken wing’ might be the last legal hold in lacrosse

Who ever said Bill Tierney’s boys couldn’t get creative? Princeton University is, after all, an Ivy League institution known for its ingenuity.

But Denver Outlaws defenseman Zac Jungers is quick to clarify that the “chicken wing,” which he calls the last, true legal hold, evolved more as a matter of brute force than creativity.

Pueblo’s Summer 7 V 7 Tourney a big hit!

PUEBLO-The Summer of 7’s Boy’s lacrosse tournament was a big hit with all who played in it. Tournament organizers are now planning a Summer of 7’s 2009 event (July 18). With the growth of the event, “we would like to add a girls division, add big prizes and giveaways, plus expand with more teams at the youth level” noted Coach Larry Fortier co-founder of the tourney.
Alex Vigil of Native Lacrosse said “put us down we’ll be back next year for sure!”
Fortier an east coast native said “where I grew up tourney’s like this happen every weekend!”.
The 7 V 7 format was OK with the players/fans & coaches as well, one parent noted “we only had 11 kids, we would have cancelled if this was full field regulation lacrosse” she went on, “just because we don’t have enough kids who play in the summer, but for the ones who love lacrosse this worked out great”.
A web-site will be built for the Tournament at www.lacrosseofpueblo.org or for more on the next year event email info@lacrosseofpueblo.org
