University of Colorado Announces New Head Coach

The University of Colorado men’s lacrosse team has announced the hiring of Peter Stevenson as the new head coach for the Buffaloes.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to be the next coach at the University of Colorado,” said Stevenson. “I look forward to building on what Coach Galvin has built these last few years in Boulder.”

Stevenson spent the 2009 season as defensive coordinator of the Orem High School Tigers of Orem, Utah—guiding them to a state championship. Prior to Orem High, he was the offensive coordinator at Brigham Young University for the 2007 and 2008 seasons, winning an MCLA Championship in 2007 with the Cougars.

A native of Orem, Utah, Stevenson founded the team at Orem High School in 1994. He was named a three-time first team all-state goalie throughout his high school career. His college career started at UVSC in 2001, where he was named Division II MVP. After transferring to BYU in 2002 and switching to attack, Stevenson was named captain for the Cougars during his senior season in 2005, as well as earning an honorable mention all-conference award.

“I am very grateful to all those that have helped me learn about coaching along the way, most especially coach Jason Lamb,” Stevenson commented. “And I am excited to put into practice all that I have learned from those wise men who have taught me about what it takes to be a coach in the MCLA.”
