Contractor Job Description: Field Youth Lacrosse Referee

Job Summary: As a contractor paid by the CYLA, the Field Youth Lacrosse Referee is responsible for on-field monitoring of select games during the season that will aid the mentoring and evaluation of youth referees. Helps to promote and enforce all national and local rules and regulations. Non-board paid position that reports to the Executive Committee.

Job Duties
• Assist with on-going training opportunities
• Assist with recruitment of new referees
• Assist with evaluation and promotion of all levels of referees
• Assist in referee assignment or placement if necessary
• Required representation on CYLA Rules & Regulations Committee
• May referee games on an individual basis

General Guidelines

• Assist with the enforcement of a regulation uniform policy
• Assist and enforce the system for the implementation and monitoring of referee performance
• Provide recommendations and information the Head Referee and Assignor regarding referee performance
• Support and assist other local and national referee associations

Personal Attributes

• Should understand the importance of developing excellent membership relationships, both internal and external
• Should have the ability to think creatively and implement new ideas
• Must possess strong diplomatic skills
• Will have excellent knowledge of “officiating issues”

Job Specifications and Qualifications

• Should have refereed at a Senior level in Colorado
• Personal circumstances must allow the candidate to work extended hours and weekends if necessary
• Should have a valid CO State drivers license
• Maintain membership in US Lacrosse Association as an official
• Maintain US Lacrosse Level I & Level II Official’s Certification

Compensation

• $2000 per season plus reasonable expenses
