Outlaws win on the road

Brendan Mundorf and Matt Brown each had two goals in the decisive third quarter as the Denver Outlaws beat the host Toronto Nationals 20-16 on Saturday to stay atop the Major League Lacrosse standings.

Denver led 10-8 at halftime, then outscored Toronto 6-2 in the third quarter. Even goalie Jesse Schwartzman got in the act in the third, assisting on Drew Westervelt’s goal.

Brown finished with six goals and an assist, and Mundorf had five goals and one assist. Westervelt had a hat trick, and Josh Sims and Dan Hardy each had a pair of goals. Schwartzman had nine saves on 22 shots.

The Outlaws are 6-1 and have a 1 1/2-game lead over Long Island (4-2).
