BROWN TO PORTLAND, MARTIN TO EDMONTON

The Portland LumberJax traded forward Spencer Martin to the Edmonton Rush in exchange for forward Matt Brown on Monday.

Brown, a three-year NLL veteran who serves as an assistant coach at his alma mater, University of Denver, played just three games for Colorado last year. He previously scored 26 goals and 33 assists in 28 games from 2006 to 2007.

“We’re extremely happy to obtain Matt,” said LumberJax head coach Derek Keenan. “If given the opportunity, Matt can be a consistent scorer in this league. He will be given that opportunity in Portland.”

At Denver, Brown tallied 137 points and became the school’s fourth-leading goal scorer with 113 career goals.

Martin, a seven-year NLL veteran, has scored 63 goals and 104 assists in 77 career games. He tallied five goals and 29 assists in 12 games for the Jax in 2008.
