Attackman Ryan Powell finished with a co-game-high five points on two goals and three assists to lead the Denver Outlaws to a 19-11 victory over the New Jersey Pride before a crowd of 8,127 Saturday night at Invesco Field.
Brian Langtry added four points on two goals, including one two-point goal, and one assist, and Drew Westervelt, Jeff Sonke and Matt Brown all contributed three points for the Outlaws (2-1), which bounced back from last week’s loss to Washington. Westervelt and Sonke each scored three goals, and Brown had two goals and an assist for Denver.
Brendan Mundorf and Geoff Snider each pitched in with a pair of goals for the Outlaws.
In a losing effort, Merrick Thompson scored four goals and dished an assist for New Jersey (0-2), which lost its second straight to start the season.
Denver led 5-4 late in the first half when it scored eight consecutive goals, including a two-point goal, to put the game away. Brown started the run by giving the Outlaws a 6-4 lead when he scored with 2:24 remaining in the first half.
Langtry opened the second half by scoring the game’s only two-point goal to put Denver ahead 8-4. By the time Langtry scored with 3:38 to play in the first half, Denver led 14-4.
