Freshman earns first career honor
DENVER – University of Denver freshman Jamie Lincoln (St. Cathariens, Ontario) recorded three goals and an assist against No. 7 Notre Dame and has been named the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week last Saturday.
Down 8-7 in the final minutes of a key GWLL game against Notre Dame, Denver needed a spark and Lincoln was there to provide it, scoring his third goal of the game to knot the score at eight and that led to sophomore Ilija Gajic’s (Burnaby, B.C) game-winner with less than a minute to go.
On the season, Lincoln leads the Pioneers (7-4) in scoring with 26 goals.
Lincoln is just the second Pioneer to earn Inside Lacrosse’s national player of the week honors, as he joins junior Joey Murray (Denver, Colo.) who was named on March 5, 2007.
DU will host Quinnipiac in GWLL action on Friday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m.
