BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Colorado Mammoth unloaded 56 shots at HSBC Arena on Saturday night, but Buffalo Bandits goaltender Mike Thompson made 45 saves to lead his team to a 12-11 victory.
A near sellout crowd of 16,905 saw the Bandits improve to 8-5 while the Mammoth fell to 7-5.
Thompson and the Bandits defense held Colorado scoreless for the first 20-plus minutes of the game, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. Colorado bounced back, tying the score at 5-5 in the second quarter, but Buffalo did not trail the entire game.
Brian Langtry and Jason Wulder led the Mammoth with three goals each, while Jed Prossner added two for the playoff-bound Mammoth. Gavin Prout had a game-high six assists and goaltender Gee Nash made 26 saves and took the loss in net.
Mark Steenhuis led Buffalo with three goals, while Kevin Dostie and Roger Vyse scored two apiece.
