The Air Force lacrosse team is back in action this week, March 25, when it hosts Presbyterian College. The game is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Cadet Lacrosse Stadium.
Air Force-Notre Dame Postponed…
The GWLL opener between Air Force and Notre Dame, originally scheduled for March 22, was postponed when inclement weather in the Midwest caused a flight cancellation for the Fighting Irish. The make-up date for the game will be announced at a later time.
Scouting the Falcons…
Air Force (1-4) last played on March 16, falling to sixth-ranked Maryland after going scoreless for nearly 43 minutes. Junior Griffin Nevitt led the Falcons’ offense with a pair of goals, while Air Force had two goalkeepers combine for 18 saves.
Nevitt is the Falcons’ leading scorer with eight goals and three assists on the season, while senior David Rose is second on the team with six goals and two assists.
Scouting the Blue Hose…
Presbyterian (0-9), in its first season as a Division I program, is coming off a 19-4 loss to Hobart and will play Denver Monday night before facing the Falcons. Tuesday’s game is the season finale for the Blue Hose.
Brian Foley, Marc Handel and Jeremy Metcalfe lead the Blue Hose offense with 12 points each on the season. Foley has scored a team-high 10 goals on the year, while Handel and Metcalfe each have a team-high five assists.
Air Force in the Statistical Rankings…
In the latest national rankings through games of March 16, Air Force ranks tied for 29th in the nation in man-up offense (.304).
Meanwhile, juniors Eric Evans and Griffin Nevitt, who rank second in the GWLL in ground balls per game (4.6), rank tied for 24th nationally in the same category. Classmate Dan Gnazzo is ranked tied for 30th in the nation with 4.4 ground balls per contest.
Keeping the Streak Alive…
Junior Griffin Nevitt will look to keep his scoring streak alive this weekend, as the midfielder has scored at least one goal or assist in 30 consecutive games. Nevitt, who has 53 goals and 27 assists in his career, has scored in 32 of 33 games in his first two-plus seasons.
Nevitt’s scoring streak of 30 games is the seventh-longest active streak in the country. Duke’s Matt Danowski leads the way with 57 straight games with at least one goal or assist.

The Falcons are back on the road next week, April 6, for a GWLL match-up at Ohio State. The contest is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. (ET) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

The 2008 Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree is scheduled to take place May 30th through June 1st.
Make plans now for your team to enter the tournament and look for lots of new events, including a college recruiting/information event for girls. See you there!!
Last year we hosted 260 teams, making the Jamboree the 5th largest lacrosse event in the world.
With the massive celebration of the women’s sport that we have planned, and the explosive growth of lacrosse in Colorado, we expect to field over 300 teams at this year’s event.
