The Durango Lacrosse Club traveled to New Mexico to open the 2008 season last weekend.
In the opener, Durango beat Santa Fe Prep 4-1.
Troy Lopez fed Devin Owen for Durango’s first goal of the season.
Matt Ritz added an unassisted goal for a 2-0 Durango lead.
Santa Fe scored in the third quarter before Durango added two more goals in the third - one from Jeremy Moss and the other from Keaton Buiso.
Durango controlled the second match, defeated Bosque Prep 10-0.
Aaron Blue started the scoring with an unassisted goal.
Ritz put Durango up 2-0.
Durango exploded for four goals in the third quarter - from Buiso, Zane Bilgrav (two) and Ryan Thomas.
Dane Bier assisted on the second of Bilgrav’s goals.
Durango added four more goals in the fourth. Buiso assisted Moss on one goal.
Then Chuck Schultz scored unassisted after running the length of the field.
Holden Randle and Moss added late goals in the 10-0 win.
In the third and final game of the day, the Durango Lacrosse Club topped Rio Rancho high school’s club team 7-0.
Ryan Thomas scored from the outside to open the game.
A minute later, Matt Ritz assisted Jamie Hards as Durango led 2-0.
Zane Bilgrav added an unassisted goal. Ryan Thomas scored the second of his three goals, and Matt Ritz added another goal.
In the third period, Thomas assisted Blue and then Thomas finished his hat trick with his third goal in the 7-0 shutout.
The Durango Lacrosse Club will travel to Rio Rancho again next weekend for a tournament featuring teams from Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.
