The All-Star Game is part of a weekend full of festivities to celebrate the game of lacrosse in Edmonton. The fun begins on Friday, March 14th as the Edmonton Rush present “Dine with the All-Stars” at the Westin Hotel in Edmonton. The event starts at 7PM. The celebration of lacrosse in Alberta on Friday also extends down to Calgary, as the Roughnecks host Colorado at 7:30PM
On Saturday, March 15th, the action moves to Rexall Place as the Rush host the Rochester Knighthawks in a regular season matchup at 4PM. The contest marks Rochester’s first ever visit to Edmonton, who are led by 2007 League MVP John Grant Jr. Shortly after the game, the 2008 All-Star Skills Competition will begin at 7PM. All fans in attendance at the game are encouraged to stay and watch the All-Stars do battle in a variety of competitions that will showcase the talents of the world’s greatest lacrosse players. Following the Skills Competition, fans are invited to join the players at the All-Star Cabaret, a post-game party at Northlands Sportex, featuring the music of Tupelo Honey. On Sunday, March 16th, the action returns to Rexall Place with the 2008 All-Star Game at 2PM, pitting the East Division All-Stars against the West Division All-Stars. Toronto Rock team captain Jim Veltman will serve as captain of the East All-Stars in his final All-Star Game before retiring after this season. Colorado Mammoth forward Gavin Prout will serve as captain of the West All-Stars. Following the game, fans are invited to attend the All-Star post game party at Rexall Place which will feature live country/western music from George Canyon, featuring a tribute to Johnny Cash.
