No. 8 North Carolina Stops No. 16 Denver to Go 2-0

CHAPEL HILL – The University of North Carolina women’s lacrosse team got five goals from freshman Corey Donohoe and four apiece from Julia Ryan and Chelsea Parks as it defeated Denver, 15-9, on Sunday afternoon at Fetzer Field. The win improved the Tar Heels to 2-0 this season. Denver fell to 0-2.

Ryan finished with four goals and two assists for six total points in the game. Donohoe’s five goals put her second among Tar Heels in scoring on the day, followed by Parks (four goals), Megan Bosica (two assists), Jenn Russell (one goal) and Mia Hurrin (one goal). Amber Falcone, Kelly Taylor and Kristen Taylor all tallied one assist for UNC.

Donohoe, who had three goals on Friday night against Loyola, has scored eight times in her first two collegiate games. Parks scored four times on Friday and also has eight goals so far in 2008, her first season as a starter.

Megan Carver led Denver with four goals, while Karen Morton added three. Steph Coyne had a goal and two assists for DU.
