Carroll Butts Park now features a newly remodeled indoor sports arena - featuring the largest indoor field in the Denver metro area. Sporting $400,000 in improvements, the building has state-of-the-art turf, sports glass, a new roof, lighting, and locker rooms, satellite TV for related sports programming, locker rooms, concessions and tiled restrooms.

The Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District - which manages the site, and the City of Westminster, own the project jointly. The City runs a similar soccer facility at 96th and Pierce Streets. The partnership will enable the two facilities to work together during very busy usage times, like school breaks and during league tournaments.

The challenge of Colorado weather and sometimes-insufficient lighting at sport fields has caused a need for this type of facility. Now teams can practice year-round, and the CBAP intends to work with local schools to offer a solution to those needs.

SOCCER
Hyland Hills will host its own soccer league play and provide a host site for other club teams searching for a venue. The soccer programs will encompass all gender, age and skill levels. Working within the school calendar, hours will be designed to accommodate busy sports times summer, Christmas and spring breaks,

FLAG FOOTBALL
The arena opened its doors to 24 teams of adult men’s flag football. The popularity of the sport and the quality of the arena turf has already proven to be a big draw.

LACROSSE
While Lacrosse is relatively new to the Hyland Hills sports lineup, a promising relationship with ICON Lacrosse has emerged. Affiliated with the Colorado Mammoth professional indoor team and the Denver Outlaws professional outdoor team, ICON is working with the District to provide individual team players that can work with area youth in demonstrations and workshop type settings to familiarize the community to the sport. Also, visiting National Lacrosse League teams are expected to use the facility as a practice site.

BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
The facility has two indoor batting cages, which are geared mostly toward children and teem use. A batting tunnel will help parents and coaches with skills building techniques.

The Carroll Butts Athletic Park facility will also be a registration site for all Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District athletic activities. The facility will be open 7 days a week with hours that coincide with school schedules and team/league play.
