Championship Semifinals @ Ford Field

Go Fast 10, Team 21 9
Rocco Romero was under the radar most of the game, but he certainly stuck out when his team needed him.

Romero opened the game’s scoring to put Go Fast ahead 1-0 in the first quarter and for almost the rest of the game he was held scoreless. However with just 13 seconds left in the game, and the score tied 9-9, Romero unleashed a cannon of a shot that got past Team 21 goalie Jake Myers for the game winning goal.

The game between the two very evenly matched teams was tight throughout. While the only time Team 21 led was in the 4th quarter, Go Fast never had more than a two goal lead, and the score was tied at eight different points in the game.

Team 21 was with the services of their leading scorer Matt Seibald who sustained a concussion in team’s quarterfinal game. With Seibald out Team 21’s Henry Bartlett and David Pittard filled in as best they could. Both Bartlett and Pittard had great games, Bartlett scored four goals and an assist while Pittard scored three goals of his own.

For Go Fast, Jim Connolly had three goals on the day, and Michael Donegar chipped in with two goals as well. Goalie Doc Schneider had an incredible day in net, registering seventeen saves. Schneider made several spectacular one on one saves when Team 21 got inside the Go Fast defense.

Go Fast will face the tournament dark horse, Team Lax Grip tomorrow in the tournament finals on Ford Field at 2:30pm.

Team Lax Grip 11, Young Guns 6
In the other semifinal, the tournament dark horse and #12 seed, Team Lax Grip left no doubt that they disserved their spot in this year’s championship.

In the game Lax Grip went up early and never relinquished their lead. The Young Guns put in a spirited effort and never quit but the experience and talent of Team Lax Grip was just too much to handle. Team Lax Grip was ahead 2-1 after the first quarter and then was able to shut out the Young Guns in the 2nd quarter to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.

In the second half the defense of Lax Grip really clamped down behind the solid goalie play of Canadian national team goalie Chris Sanderson. Sanderson had another good day for Lax Grip, making fourteen saves while only allowing five goals.

Andrew Wasick paced team Lax Grip with four goals and three assists. Wasick was a force on the field, and did a great job with his shot selection. For the Young Guns Ryan Zordoni had a good day tallying two goals and an assist.

Team Lax Grip will face their toughest match up yet when they face Go Fast tomorrow for the championship. Even though they are considered the underdog, don’t be surprised to see them walk away with the upset.

Tuesday’s Results
8:00 AM Field 1 Gang Green 11, Lockton Loaded 7
Gang Green came out strong with scoring 4 goals right away. In the second half Lockton Loaded, locked it up by scoring 6 goals to one in the first half. Kate Fauth had a strong second half to keep the game in LL’s favor.

9:15 AM Field 1 ReLAXers 9, East-West Sports 4
An evenly matched 1st half created an exciting game. ReLAXers increased intensity in the second half for a decisive win. East-West keeper Carducci tallied 6 saves.

10:30 AM Field 1 Team Rammit 2, Outlaws 17
Great sportsmanship, fancy shots, and impressive skills proved Team Outlaws are undoubtedly one the best teams Vail has seen. Great fun to watch and Rammit had fun too.

11:45 AM Field 1 Greene Turtle 15, Revolution Lacrosse 0
The game started out even, but Greene Turtle quickly dominated with fast-break transitions, 1-2 connections and impressive ball control to finish 15-0. The Greene Turtle have the personnel, talent and magic to get to the Championship game.

1:00 PM Field 1 Lockton Loaded 7, East West 3
This defensive low scoring game was fun to watch. The evenly matched teams of East West and Lockton Loaded had a great game. Keeper Meg Dentler from LL had 9 saves and played an aggressive, action filled defense.

2:45 PM Field 1 Revolution 14, Rammit 4
Despite 13 saves by the Rammit keeper, Revolution was still able to record a decisive win, 14-4 with Vader Giles scoring 4 goals for the Revolution.

3:30 PM Field 1 Relaxers 4, Gang Green 5 OT
The Relaxers and Gang Green was anything but relaxed in this exciting overtime game. It was close the entire game, but in the end Gang Green had what it took to be the head of the field.

4:45 PM Field 1 Greene Turtle 9, Outlaws 14
The Turtle hung in with the Outlaws and showed impressive speed and agility, but once again, despite the saying ’slow and steady wins the race’ the Outlaws had a break-out once again and the Hare beat the Turtle. Look for them in the finals on Wednesday.

8:00 AM Field 2 Lakeshore 7, Tap This 9
Tap This slowly danced their way to victory. Lakeshore came back towards the end, but too little too late.

9:15 AM Field 2 NYAC 2, Colorado Chillax 16
All Chillax had to do the whole game was totally chill out. Defense had it easy, only allowing NYAC 2 goals.

10:30 AM Field 2 LacrosseWear 13, Vision 6
LacrosseWear just wore out Team Vision, whose eyes seemed to be a little blurry. Their lead was very easy to attain, and LacrosseWear was very determined the whole game.

11:45 AM Field 2 Team Ohio 11, Detroit 3
The midwest butted heads in this battle. Ohio started slow but quickly picked up their game. Detroit was left in the dust, losing by a whopping 8 goals.

1:00 PM Field 2 Lakeshore 15, NYAC 4
Lakeshore, a team consisting of mostly players from the “Windy City”, completely blew away NYAC in this game. They stayed strong the whole game and completely annihilated NYAC.

2:15 PM Field 2 Vision 7, Detroit 4
Team Vision ended up having 20-20 vision today! They started their game with total confidence and fought for their lead the whole game. Team Vision saw their victory from the start.

3:30 PM Field 2 Tap This 6, Colorado Chillax 14
Tap This just didn’t have what it took to save the last dance. Chillax gave it everything they had and obviously it payed off. They won by 8 goals.

4:45 PM Field 2 LacrosseWear 6, Team Ohio 16
Ohio started this game like it was their last. They fought hard for ground balls, won draws, and scored beautiful goals. It was a very intense game as Team LacrosseWear fought hard but the Midwest ultimately ended victoriously!
