Outlaws Take Down Philadelphia Barrage 15-13 - Denver Avenges 2006 Championship Game Loss
Denver-July 21, 2007- Midfielder Brian Langtry scored four goals and added an assist to lead the Denver Outlaws (5-4) to their third win in the last four games, a 15-13 victory over the defending MLL champion Philadelphia Barrage (6-3) at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Saturday evening. The loss snapped the Barrage’s three-game win streak and allowed the Outlaws to avenge a loss against Philadelphia in last year’s New Balance MLL Championship Game.
Attackman Drew Westervelt gave the Outlaws a 1-0 lead just 1:18 into the first quarter by converting a feed from midfielder Benson Erwin, but the Barrage countered with three straight goals to take a two-goal lead. However, the Outlaws responded with a three-goal run, including Westervelt’s second goal of the quarter, to regain the one-goal edge with 1:05 left in the first stanza.
After the teams traded a pair of goals, the Outlaws extended their advantage to 8-5 with back-to-back goals from Langtry and attackman Brendan Mundorf, but the Barrage answered with tallies from rookie attackman Ian Dingman and Michael Springer, narrowing the margin to 8-7 at the intermission.
The teams traded goals four times during the third quarter, including a pair of goals by Denver midfielder Josh Sims, before the Outlaws put together a three-goal rally to begin the fourth quarter. Langtry scored on an unassisted goal just 26 seconds into the period before attackman Matt Brown recorded a pair of markers, giving Denver a 15-11 lead. Springer scored a two-point goal with 1:08 left to cut the margin to 15-13, but the Barrage were unable to complete the comeback.
Langtry was named the Bud Light MVP for his five-point performance while Brown added three goals. Goalkeeper Trevor Tierney made 17 saves for the Outlaws, who out shot Philadelphia by a 53-44 margin. Springer led Philadelphia in a losing effort with four goals, including a two-pointer, while attackman Ryan Boyle scored a goal and added three assists. Goalkeeper Brian Dougherty made 21 saves, including 15 in the first half, for the Barrage.
Next up for the Outlaws is a July 28 road game against the Long Island Lizards. Denver looks to get on a roll with a win in Long Island and make a playoff push as the season winds down.

Outlaws Look For Revenge - Denver Welcomes Philadelphia Barrage on Saturday
Denver–July 17, 2007 – The Denver Outlaws return to INVESCO Field at Mile High on Saturday, July 21, to take on an Eastern Conference foe in the Philadelphia Barrage in a rematch of last year’s MLL Championship game.
In that game, Barrage midfielder Roy Colsey scored a postseason record 10 points and Philadelphia face-off specialist Paul Cantabene won a playoff record 27 face-offs as the Barrage won the title by a final score of 23-12.
Philadelphia (6-2) rides into town tied for first place in their division. The Barrage are coming off a 12-7 victory over New Jersey on July 12. Led by attackman Ryan Boyle, whose 41 points make him the third highest point man in the MLL, the Barrage have won three straight games and look to make it four in a row against Denver.
The Outlaws dropped their last game by a final score of 17-5. The loss came against the division leading L.A Riptide and drops the Outlaws to 4-4 on the season.
The Barrage may have gotten the best of the Outlaws in the past, but Denver attackman Brendan Mundorf looks to put pressure on the 2006 Warrior Goalie of the Year Brian Dougherty and get the Outlaws a much-needed victory.

Outlaws look for 3 in a row vs. Riptide
Denver travels to L.A. on Saturday
Denver–July 12, 2007 – The Denver Outlaws hit the road on Saturday, July 14, to take on the L.A. Riptide.
The Riptide enter this weekend with a 5-2 record and currently sit in first place in the Western Conference. The Outlaws sit at 4-3, which puts them in second position in the division.
The two teams met once before this season, with Denver getting the best of the Riptide by a final score of 18-15 on June 9 at INVESCO Field @ Mile High.
In that game, attackman Brendan Mundorf led the Outlaws with 8 points and his college teammate Drew Westervelt had a terrific professional debut, scoring 4 goals and chipping in 3 assists.
Fans can expect a shootout, as Denver looks to improve to 5-0 all-time against the Riptide. The Outlaws took all three games from Los Angeles in 2006 and will look to make a move on the division leader in the coming weeks.

Outlaws Acquire Trey Whitty From Dragons
Denver sends Hunter Lochte to San Francisco
Denver–July 11, 2007 –The Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today they have acquired defenseman Trey Whitty from the San Francisco Dragons. In exchange for the third year player, Denver sent attackman Hunter Lochte to the Dragons.
Whitty was taken in 2005 by the Boston Cannons. Last season, Whitty had 22 ground balls and added 1 assist in 12 games for the Dragons. This year, Whitty was placed on the Did Not Report’ list prior to the season and has not played thus far.
“We made this trade to bolster our defense,” said Outlaws General Manager and Head Coach Brian Reese. “Trey is a versatile, scrappy player that will fit in well. He can play both short stick and long stick and will be an asset on the face of the wings.”
Lochte scored 14 goals and added 2 assists in 11 games last season for the Outlaws but due to limited playing time, has scored 4 goals and 2 assists in 4 games this season.
“Trading Hunter was a difficult decision,” said Reese. “He will now have the chance to play on a more consistent basis in San Francisco. We wish him the best of luck in San Francisco.”
The Outlaws are back in action this weekend, against the Riptide in Los Angeles this Saturday. On July 21, Denver returns home to take on the Philadelphia Barrage in a rematch of the 2006 MLL Championship game.

Men’s Elite
Championship
Go Fast 7, Lax Grip 6
It was lacrosse at its finest and one of the best Championships in years at the 35th annual Vail Lacrosse Shootout. It was a close game throughout with Go Fast winning their first title on their third trip to the championship game.
Jon Barocas and his team, Go Fast, were able to outlast Team Lax Grip for a one goal victory. It was the first one goal championship game since Lax World won over Under Armor 13-12 in 2000. It was a truly exciting lacrosse game in which Go Fast led almost the entire way. Michael Donegar, tournament all-star and Offensive MVP, scored four goals to help Go Fast win. Donegar was impressive, especially in the 4th quarter when he took over the game. Two of Donegar’s goals came back-to-back in the beginning of the last period to give Go Fast enough of a lead to win their first championship. Donegar was Go Fast’s go-to weapon in the 2nd half. He did a great job of leading the offense, and creating opportunities for himself against a staunch Lax Grip defense.
This championship tied for the all time lowest scoring game in Vail shootout history and was a credit to both goalies, both of whom put on memorable performances. Go Fast’s Doc Schneider and Lax Grip’s Chris Sanderson each made several outstanding saves in the final game. Sanderson tallied seventeen saves in the game while Schneider ended the game with eight saves. Even though Schneider has less than half the saves of his counterpart he made several one-on-one saves that were crucial to his team’s victory.
The tournament dark horse Lax Grip battled hard the entire game but Go Fast’s depth was too tough to over come. For Lax Grip, Andrew Wasik also had a notable performance. The attackmen from Pace University scored four of his team’s six goals and earned a place on the All-Tournament Team.
Like all games in the Vail Shootout, this one was played with a thirty second shot clock. This game was what the rule makers had in mind when they decided to institute the shot clock at the tournament. With incredibly quick pace the end to end action seemed to never stop as the first half was played in a speedy thirty-three minutes. While this game was a defensive struggle almost the entire way it will now take its place as one of the most thrilling games in tournament history.

Revolution played hard and had a good tournament.
10:10 AM Field 1 ReLAXers 1 Greene Turtle 13
Greene Turtles and ReLAXers decided to have fun, enjoy the game, and soak up the sun. Greene Turtles dominated and proved they were one of the two top teams in the tournament.
8:00 AM Field 2 NYAC 4 Detroit 2 (but was a forfeit)
NYAC did happen to win this game although they started this game with a loss due to having to forfeit because they had to pick up players. The Detroit players were good sports by being willing to accommodate the needs of NYAC.
9:05 AM Field 2 Lakeshore 11 Vision 9
Lakeshore showed Vision who was boss in this game. They played very aggressive defense and the goalie was on fire. Lakeshore had what it took to beat the all-seeing Vision.
10:10 AM Field 2 Tap This 13 LacrosseWear 9
LacrosseWear seemed completely worn out during this game. Although both teams seemed tired they still managed to pull off a good game.
11:15 AM Field 2 Chillax 17 Team Ohio 6
This game was extremely physical and intense the whole game. Chillax had a tight defense that shut down their offense completely. There was even an immediate red card issued for dangerous play!! All in all, this game kept the spectators interested.
12:30 PM Ford Field Outlaws 18 Gang Green 3
Championship Game
The Outlaws plundered Gang Green with a strong start. Their talents were on full display as they passed and shot their way to a 10-0 lead. To Gang Green’s credit, they stood their ground and worked hard to fight off the Outlaws. In the end, the show time talents of the Outlaws overwhelmed Gang Green.
