Mammoth duo on NLL all-rookie team
Forward Jamie Shewchuk and transition player Nenad Gajic of the Colorado Mammoth have been named to the 2007 National Lacrosse League all-rookie team.
Shewchuk had 26 assists this season to lead NLL rookies and finished fourth in scoring among Mammoth players with 53 points.
Gajic, named the NLL rookie of the month in February, had 27 points this season and 102 loose balls.

Trio of Falcons Earns All-GWLL Honors
USAFA, Colo. - Three Air Force players were honored with the Great Western Lacrosse League’s 2007 season awards, as announced by Commissioner Jon Hind today. Sophomore midfielder Griffin Nevitt (Charlotte, N.C.) earned first-team All-GWLL honors, while senior attack Will Meister (Denver, Colo.) and sophomore long-stick midfielder Dan Gnazzo (Eden Prairie , Minn.) were both named to the second team.
Nevitt, a second-team all-conference selection in 2006, led the Falcons with 34 points on the season, recording a team-best 19 goals while adding 15 assists. One of the top scoring midfielders in the country, Nevitt has scored at least one goal or assist in 25 consecutive games and 27 out of 28 for his career. He also ranks among the team’s leaders in total ground balls.
Meister, a two-year team captain, earns all-conference honors for the third time in his career. After leading Air Force with 20 assists in 2007, Meister ends his career with 84 assists, ranking tied for sixth place in the Falcons’ record books. Air Force’s team MVP in 2007, Meister ranks among the nation’s leaders in assists per game at 1.67. He has also tallied at least one goal or assist in the last 25 games of his career and has scored at least one point in 48 out of 52 games as a Falcon.
Gnazzo, a two-year starter at the long-stick midfield position, led the Falcons with 42 ground balls on the season, while also tallying his first career assist against Denver. Gnazzo has also seen time as the Falcons’ back-up goalkeeper, getting the win over Quinnipiac.
In addition to announcing the all-league first and second teams, the GWLL’s individual awards (Newcomer of the Year, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year) were released Thursday as well. Notre Dame, which finished the regular season with a 11-3 overall record and 5-0 mark in the GWLL, swept the individual awards. The conference’s Newcomer of the Year award went to the Fighting Irish’s Will Yeatman, while Player of the Year honors went goalkeeper Joey Kemp. In addition, Notre Dame’s Kevin Corrigan was named 2007 GWLL Coach of the Year after leading the Irish to their 15th NCAA Tournament appearance.

Three Pioneers Named to All-GWLL Team
Murray, Hahn, Shepard take home postseason honors
DENVER – Three University of Denver men’s lacrosse players have been named to the All-Great Western Lacrosse League first team, it was announced today by GWLL commissioner Joe Hind.
Sophomore Joey Murray (Denver) was named to the first team at the attack position. Murray started 14 of 16 games, recording 22 goals and a team-high 21 assists to lead the Pioneers with 43 points. On the way to being named Pioneer Face-Off Classic MVP, GWLL Player of the Week and Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week, Murray scored 12 points in two games the weekend of March 3-4. Murray also had a hat trick against Ohio State. Murray had two game-winning goals this season had three man-up goals. He recorded 26 ground balls and had six games with at least two goals. Murray recorded at least two assists in seven games and had a team-high .646 shots on goal percentage.
Senior David Hahn (Aurora, Colo.) and junior Rory Shepard (Riverside, Conn.) were named to the first team All-GWLL defense squad. Hahn started all 16 games, recording 1 goal and 2 assists. Hahn led the Pioneers with 60 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Prior to the 2007 season, Hahn received preseason All-American honorable mention honors and was named to Tewaaraton Watch List. In his four years at DU, Hahn had 146 ground balls. He was named to Pioneer Face-Off Classic all-tournament team.
Shepard started 15 of 16 games, recording 41 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. He had one point this season and was a preseason All-American honorable mention honoree.
DU finished the 2007 season 9-7 overall and third in the GWLL with a 3-2 record.
